DWF File Viewer, Reader & DWF to DWG Converter

DWF Viewer, Reader & DWF to DWG Converter.

Open any DWF or DWFx drawing and read it like a sheet on the table — every sheet in the set, every layer, every line. Measure real distances, redline the drawing with pen, arrows, and notes, then convert the DWF to DWG to keep working on it in CAD, or to a PDF or image you can send to anyone — right on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

The drawing set, in your pocket

DWF — Design Web Format — is how finished CAD drawings get sent to people who do not run CAD. Architects publish a set of floor plans as a DWF, engineers issue a revision as a DWFx, and the file lands in an email on a phone or a Mac with nothing on it that knows what a .dwf file is. You can see the name and the size, and not the drawing.

DWF Viewer is the DWF reader for that moment. Open the file and the sheet is drawn clean and sharp, with smooth pan and pinch-zoom that holds up on dense, detailed plans. A drawing set opens as a set: step from sheet to sheet the way you would leaf through a roll of prints, instead of hunting for the one page you need.

Everything the author put into the drawing is there to use, and a 3D DWF model opens in a view you can rotate and zoom. Toggle layers on and off to strip a busy plan back to the walls, the electrics, or the dimensions. Open the properties to read the document and sheet details — title, units, extents, and the objects on the sheet. Invert the colors for a dark sheet that is easier on the eyes on site or late at night.

Then the drawing does work. Measure real-world distances straight off the sheet. Redline it with a freehand pen, arrows, and text notes, with undo when a mark goes wrong — and every markup stays saved with its own sheet. When it is time to hand it on, convert the DWF to the file the next person needs: a DWG to reopen and edit in CAD software, a PDF of one sheet or the whole set, or a PNG or JPEG of a single sheet. No upload and no account at any point.

DWF converter

Convert DWF to DWG, PDF, and images.

A DWF is published for viewing, not editing. Turn it back into a DWG for the CAD desk, or into a PDF or image for everyone else.

DWF → DWG

Convert a DWF drawing to DWG and carry on working on it in CAD software, when the original DWG is nowhere to be found.

DWF → PDF

The sheet you are looking at, or every sheet in the set collected into one PDF, ready to email or print.

DWF → PNG or JPEG

Save a sheet as an image for a message, a report, or a slide.

Your markups included

Redlines, arrows, and notes you added go out with the export.

How it works

How to open a DWF file on iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

01

Open the DWF file

Tap a .dwf or .dwfx from the Files app, Mail, AirDrop, a download, or any app that hands you a drawing. Recent drawings stay one tap away.

02

Read the drawing

Pan and pinch-zoom across the sheet, step through every sheet in the set, toggle layers, and open the properties for units and extents.

03

Measure and mark it up

Measure distances on the drawing, redline it with a pen, arrows, and notes, and undo or erase any mark. Markups are kept with each sheet.

04

Convert and share

Convert the DWF to DWG for CAD, export this sheet or all sheets to PDF, or one sheet to PNG or JPEG, then share it or save it to Files.

Supported formats

DWF and DWFx in, DWG, PDF, and images out.

.dwf

The Design Web Format for published CAD drawings — single sheets, multi-sheet drawing sets, and 3D DWF models.

.dwfx

The newer DWF format, opened on the same viewer with its sheets and layers.

.dwg

Convert a DWF file to DWG — the drawing format CAD software opens and edits.

.pdf

Export one sheet or the whole set as a PDF anyone can open, markups included.

.png / .jpg

Save any sheet as an image, in standard or high quality.

What it does

A DWF viewer built for people who receive drawings.

Clean, Sharp Sheets

Plans, sections, and details drawn crisp at every zoom level, with smooth pan and pinch-zoom on dense drawings.

3D DWF Viewer

Open a 3D DWF model and turn it in your hands — rotate it, zoom in on a detail, and look at the design from every side.

Multi-Sheet Drawing Sets

Flip through every sheet in a set the way you would leaf through a roll of prints, instead of opening files one by one.

Layers On and Off

Hide the layers you do not need and focus on the walls, the services, or the dimensions — then show all layers again in one tap.

Drawing Properties

Read the document and sheet details — title, format, units, extents, and the objects on the sheet.

Measure Distances

Measure real-world distances directly on the drawing, without printing it out or hunting for a scale rule.

Redline With Pen, Arrows & Notes

Mark up the drawing freehand, point at problems with arrows, and pin text notes where they belong, with undo and erase.

Markups Saved Per Sheet

Every redline stays with its own sheet, so a comment on sheet three is still there when you come back to it.

Night-Friendly Invert

Flip the drawing to light lines on a dark sheet for comfortable reading on site, in a dim room, or late at night.

Convert DWF to DWG

Turn a DWF back into a DWG drawing you can open and edit in CAD software — the fastest way from a published sheet to a working file.

Convert DWF to PDF

Export this sheet or the whole drawing set to a single PDF that anyone can open, with your markups on it.

Save Sheets as Images

Turn any sheet into a PNG or JPEG in standard or high quality for a message, a report, or a presentation.

Opens From Anywhere

Files, Mail, AirDrop, downloads, or any app that shares a drawing — and a recent list keeps your drawings close.

iPhone, iPad, and Mac

The same DWF file viewer on all three, so a drawing reads the same on site, in a meeting, and at the desk.

Stays on Your Device

Drawings are opened, measured, marked up, and exported on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Nothing is uploaded, which matters for a client's unreleased plans.

No Account, No Tracking

No sign-up and no sign-in, and no ads. Open the drawing you were sent and get on with the job.

Your Original Stays As Sent

Markups are kept alongside the drawing and exports are written out separately, so the DWF you received is never altered.

Perfect for
  • Opening a DWF drawing set an architect emailed, on a phone, with no CAD software nearby.
  • Checking a dimension on site by measuring straight off the sheet.
  • Redlining a revision with arrows and notes and sending it back as a PDF.
  • Converting a DWF to DWG when the original CAD file is lost and only the published DWF survives.
  • Converting a DWF to PDF so a client or contractor without a DWF reader can open it.
  • Hiding layers to read just the structure, the services, or the dimensions on a busy plan.
  • Reading a drawing set in a site meeting on an iPad, sheet by sheet.
  • Rotating a 3D DWF model on an iPad to show a client the design from every angle.
  • Saving a single sheet as an image to drop into a report or a message.
Get started

Download it and open your first drawing straight away — or start with the sample drawing that comes with the app. There is no account to create, and nothing about your drawings leaves the device.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about DWF files.

What is a DWF file?

DWF (Design Web Format) is a compact format for publishing CAD drawings so people can view, measure, and mark them up without the original design software. A DWF can hold a single sheet or a whole multi-sheet drawing set.

What is the difference between DWF and DWFx?

DWFx is the newer version of the DWF format. DWF Viewer opens both, with their sheets and layers.

How do I open a DWF file on iPhone or iPad?

Open it with DWF Viewer from the Files app, Mail, AirDrop, or a download. The drawing opens straight away, with every sheet in the set and its layers.

Is there a DWF viewer for Mac?

Yes. DWF Viewer runs on Mac as well as iPhone and iPad, so the same drawing opens on every device you use.

What program opens DWF files?

On a desktop it is usually CAD software or a dedicated DWF reader. On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, DWF Viewer opens DWF and DWFx files directly.

Can it open 3D DWF files?

Yes. 3D DWF models open in a 3D view you can rotate and zoom, so you can look at the design from any angle on iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Can I convert DWF to DWG?

Yes. DWF Viewer converts a DWF file to DWG, so a drawing that was published for viewing can go back into CAD software to be edited.

How do I open a DWF file in AutoCAD?

Convert the DWF to DWG first, then open the DWG in AutoCAD or any other CAD program. DWF Viewer does the conversion on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Is there a DWF to DWG converter online?

Online DWF to DWG converters ask you to upload the drawing to their server first. DWF Viewer converts the file on your own device, so a client's plans never leave it.

Can I convert a DWF file to PDF?

Yes. Export the current sheet or every sheet in the set to a single PDF, with your markups included, and share it or save it to Files.

Can I save a DWF sheet as an image?

Yes. Any sheet can be exported as a PNG or JPEG, in standard or high quality.

Can I measure on a DWF drawing?

Yes. Measure real-world distances directly on the sheet without printing it.

Can I mark up a DWF file?

Yes. Redline it with a freehand pen, arrows, and text notes, with undo and erase. Markups are saved with each sheet.

Can I turn layers on and off?

Yes. Toggle individual layers to focus on part of the drawing, then show all layers again in one tap.

Is there an online DWF viewer I should use instead?

Online DWF viewers ask you to upload the drawing to someone else's server. DWF Viewer reads the file on your own device, which matters when the plans belong to a client.

Open DWF drawings and convert DWF to DWG anywhere.

Every sheet and layer of a DWF or DWFx drawing, measurement and redlines on top, and a DWG, PDF, or image out the other side — on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
